Agent skills give AI coding agents reusable guidance for specific tasks. Metronome agent skills encode recommended integration patterns, API request formats, and common pitfalls agents should avoid. Install them in Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or any other coding agent that supports skills.

Installation

To start building with Metronome agent skills, run this command from your project directory:
The command will then prompt you to choose which skills to install and which agents to install them for.
Installed skills don’t update automatically. Run npx skills update -y to get the latest versions.

Provide your API token

Skills that read from or write to your Metronome environment require an API token.
  1. Create an API token.
  2. Export it as METRONOME_BEARER_TOKEN, the same variable the Metronome SDKs read:
  3. If you use a terminal agent such as Claude Code or Codex, start it from the same shell. For an IDE-based agent, set the variable where the IDE reads its environment, then restart the IDE.
Keep the token out of your agent’s chat and out of any file your agent might commit. Load it from an environment variable or a secrets manager instead. API tokens inherit the permissions of the user who created them, so consider a token scoped to read-only access or to your sandbox environment.
